TAKANINI WORK
YESTERDAY’S GALLOPS A QUIET MORNING Special to THE SUN TAKANINI, Today. Track proceedings at Takanini were fairlv lively On Tuesday morning, and some useful work was accomplished by candidates for the Avondale meeting. Dominican and Envoy were companions in a fairly, useful furlong gallop, accomplished in 1.5 2-5. Envoy was a length to the bad at the start, and this disadvantage, together with the fact that his opponent had the- inside running, did not help him. Dominican maintained his advantage to the end. • The Chief Ruler —Peutetre filly and White Wings were on terms at the end of four furlongs run in 51 4-5, with the latter going well within herself and looking to have the measure of Ler opponent. Prince of Orange went a good mile and a-half at half-pace, displaying plenty of dash throughout. Rosshire accomplished ten furlongs nicely, moving evenly throughout at about 15 to the furlong. 9 Two-Year-Olds Sprinted The Leighton—Oddity and Leighton —Commediene juveniles were allowed to run along down the straight and hit out with plenty of freedom. Names claimed for these two-year-olds are Royal Artist and High Comedy, respectively. Tamarado, appearing a trifle sore, was Gay Cavalier’s companion over a few furlongs, the latter doing the better of the pair. Tabarado will be galloped later in the week, and unless the soreness has worn off it is unlikely that she will face the starter at Avondale. Royal Survey and King’s Speech went a round at half-pace. Both worked satisfactory, but were not impressive.
