The expansion of industrial activity in New Zealand will follow from increased tariffs according to a statement made members of the council of th© Wellington Chamber of Commerce. Mr. A. Jacobs said it had be* B decided definitely, in view of the tariff that was going to operate « n certain lines of goods, that one firm at Home should open works in Canterbury. Unfortunately the industry would* not employ a great number of workers. A members said that another indu*try likely to employ 800 was to be established in the Dominion as a result of the tariff increases.
