MISHAP TO TAURIMU SIR RUSSELL’S FUTURE , Special to THE BVK TE AROHA, Friday. Trainer M. L. Lipsey is still allowing the Muskall gelding Muskot the run of the paddock, but he will probably be put into work in the spring. The latest addition to his team is a rising three-year-old gelding by Marble Arch —Amans Queen, owned by one of the officials of the local jockey club. As yet somewhat In the rough, the newcomer has a distinctly promising appearance. G. A. Reid has Valstreet, Marble King, Glenstar, and Distress doing satisfactory work. The latter is shap- j ing up splendidly, and should turn out j to be a very worthy addition to the j stable. Mr. R. M. Taylor’s Taurimu is being treated to a spell on account of falling on the slippery road. But for this slight accident he would have been a competitor at the Pakuranga meeting next month. Kept for Sprints Sir Russell appears to be thriving on his work. Last season he was tried over distances up to 11 furlcngs, but during the coming spring will probably be found competing in sprint events. A team that should show up well in the new season is that of trainer C. R. Wallace. With "White Ringlet, Bahama, Young Thurnham, Armenia, and the Catmint—Goldplane two-year-old, which have all been well wintered, a share of the prize money should come their way. The Catmint juvenile is distinctly promising, while Armenia carries sufficient racing condition to come to hand quickly. Eulogistic references are being made relative to Mr. J. McNicol’s yearling colt by Musketoon from Mungamaire. As a half-brother to Vaccination and Black Maire he will- be expected to race well. It would not be surprising if hq is secured by some enterprising sportsman in the near future.
