TE AWAMUTU PROTEST DEFEND LEAGUE FORMED From Oitt* Own Correspondent AWAMUTU, Today. A branch of* jfhe National Defence League of New* was formed at a meeting at Te Awarnutu on Thursday evening- Mr. S. C. Macky presided. The following ofLVqrs were elected: President. Mr. S. CV Macky; vicepresident, Mr. J. G. executive, Messrs. W. MackvSnvie, G. B. Melrose, and Gee, McCallfemn; secretary, Mr. C. J. Pierce. The following resolution was carried unanimously: “That this branch of the National Defence League enters an emphatic protest at the difeiV tic action of the Government in ctXrtivling the defence system of the couautrA', thereby making it inoperative ana of no practical value.” Speaking to the motion, the man expressed the conviction* that the Government’s announcememiirfame as a bombshell.
