JUNIOR NOTES
SEVENTH GRADE ROUND ENDS
The first round in the seventh grade was concluded on Saturday week last. The following table sets out the posi - tions of the teams up to and including that day's play:
Richmond A has the best record, although it is level with Xortheotc at the top, as the result of losing one match on protest. e , e Tho Ponsonby third grade team leaves this evening for the Xortli. where it plays a Hikurangi junior team tomorrow. * * * The Devonport third open grade team has withdrawn from the competition. This means that there will now be a bye in this grade each week. * * * The second round of the third intermediate gru.de has four matches to go before its conclusion. The second grade has three matches to go. * * * The two leading teams. City and Akarana, in the second grade, met last Saturday, Akarana winning. Richmond, however, still leads in the competition. Marist A is leading in the sixth grade by one point, with Newton and City level in second place. In tho fourth, sixth and seventh grades the junior management committee has decided to make the teams scoring the most championship points in the second round of the grade competitions winners of the knock-out. This expedient has been adopted to shorten tho season, as without any more interruptions th© competitions in these grades are already planned out to last till October 11. This method of deciding the knock-out was used in another grade two years ago and worked very well-
