SMITHY TIRES OF TOO MANY BANQUETS IN U.S.A. ANXIOUS TO GET ON WASHINGTON, Tuesday. Prior to his departure from here, Kiugsfovd Smith said he was anxious to continue his journey as soon as he could. Receptions were harder than Hying the Atlantic, but he appreciated the spirit of them nevertheless. The airman said the non-stop flight ! from New York to Oakland, California. would necessitate carrying a full load ! of petrol. If they encountered head winds they would stop at Chicago, otherwise they would not do so. He did not propose to refuel the Southern Cross in -the air.
