ENGINEDRIVER KILLED

HIT BY TRAIN WHILE ON WAY TO WORK CHRISTCHURCH TRAGEDY l‘rcss Association CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. William Henry Irwin, married, a railway enginedriver, was struck by a Lyttelton train near the Linwood station at 6.40 this evening and died soon aftenward. Irwin was on his way to work and was crossing the line at a point where there was no thoroughfare across the tracks when he was struck by the locomotive and thrown aside. Ha was picked up between the two sets of rails still alive, but he died while being conveyed to hospital.
