PETROL DRUM EXPLODES
SPARK CAUSED BY BLOW FROM SPANNER GARAGE OWNER HURT HASTINGS, Today. A Hastings garage proprietor, Arthur j H. Wilson, was the victim of an unusual accident yesterday afternoon. While endeavouring to open an empty 44-gallon petrol drum, he struck the screwcap a. blow with a spanner. A spark at once ignited the fumes remaining in the drum, and an explosion blew out both ends, the top end striking him on the side of the head, and knocking a hole in the roof of the garage. Wilson was taken to hospital, and today was reported to be progressing favourably.
