VICE-REGAL VISIT

LADY BLEDISLOE VISITS HALL OF INDUSTRIES PLEASED AT EXHIBITS New Zealand-made goods are to have a prominent place in Government House. This morning her Excellency Lady Bledislo© visited the Hall of Industries, in the Queen’s Arcade, and expressed her pleasure at the excellent quality of the articles on view. As a souvenir of her visit Lady Bledisloe was presented with a lovely handbag, made in Auckland, of New Zealand leathers. She was delighted with the gift.

ITer Excellency has also requested that some New Zealand-made coats be sent to Government House in order that she may choose one for herself. A cardigan jacket will also be chosen for his Excellency. The excellent quality of toothbrushes and other small articles received the highest commendation from Lady Bledisloe, who is determined to foster New Zea-land-made goods during her stay in the Dominion.

There is no doubt, too, that when their Excellencies return to England they will be staunch advocates of the Dominion-made products. Judging by Lady Bledisloe’s smile as she walked round the Hall of Industries this morning there was no doubt that she was charmed and impressed by all she saw. Her Excellency, who was accompanied by Mrs. Bathurst, was met by Mr. George Finn, president of the Manufacturers’ Association, and Mr. J. Findlay, secretary. Mrs. Finn and Miss Ellen Melville also accompanied the party. On her arrival Lady Bledisloe was presented with a bouquet of fragrant spring flowers by Miss C. Findlay, daughter of the secretary. During morning tea her Excellency expressed her delight at seeing such splendid goods made in New Zealand and expressed a wish that she might visit some of the factories in Auckland, where she could see the various goods being manufactured. She said also that she was anxious to support New Zealand-made goods in every way and that she was making a speciality of them in the house. Yesterday over 500 people visited the Hall of Industries, which is proving more popular every day. This morning it was thronged again.
