NATIONAL TIMBER CO.

IMPROVEMENT IN TRADE A great improvement on the trade of the previous year was reported by the chairman, Mr. J. J. O’Brien, at the annual meeting of shareholders in the National Timber Company, Limited, yesterday. Procedes from sales amounted to £35,000, compared with £20,000 for the year ended March, 1929. The quantity of timber cut at the mill was 4,000,000 ft. or over 1,500,000 ft. more than that cut in the preceding year. Wages paid increased from £17,984 to £27,254. and the amount owing to sundry creditors was reduced by £3,540. A considerable sum was sxient upon improvements to the company’s 16 miles of tramway which, with the mill and its equipment, was now in first-class order. At present the company held excellent stocks. The retiring directors, Mr. J. A. Lamb and Mr. H. Plardley, were reelected.

An honorarium of £SO each was voted to the directors, whose services for a number of years have been given gratis.

A vote of thanks was accorded to the manager, Mr. J. Canbie, who was congratulated by shareholders upon his careful administration. Similar votes were also accorded to the secretary, Mr. W. Pitts, and the other members of the company’s staff.
