THE KING’S CUP
PHAR LAP’S NEXT RACE Phar Lap is engaged in the King’s Cup, 1J miles, to be run on Saturday. A cablegram published last Monday stated that Phar Lap would start in the Adelaide Cup, but Australian papers of May 7 say that the lessee, H. R. Telford, had definitely decided to reserve the horse for the Elder Stakes (which he won last Saturday) and the King's Cup. The stake in the King’s Cup is £I,OOO and a gold cup, presented by his Majesty the King. The maximum weight is 9.5, and Phar Lap tops the list.
