AFRICAN COAST LASHED BY STORM TOWN DARK AND DESOLATE United I*.A.—By Telegraph—Copyright Reed. 10.5 a.m. CAPETOWN, Mon. Furious storms lashed the coast at the week-end. The Sutton Hall, carrying 100 live cattle, -wirelessed that she was returning as the cattle stalls were broken. A large Ashing boat crew of tour is missing, and it is feared all are lost. The mail steamer has not called at Mossel Bay, bringing passengers and cargo to Capetown. Three weeks’ rain at Mauritius terminated in a thunderstorm. Port Louis was plunged into darkness owing to the, flooding of the powerstation. The water rose eight feet in some houses, sweeping their contents down the streets to the sea. The town today was a scene of pitiful desolation.
