TE AROHA NOTES
In connection with the Elstow Drainage Board’s Te Awaiti loan, the sum of £7,000 in debentures has already been applied for, and £5,000 due to the Lands Department has been paid. The board has under consideration the question of the continuance of the drain along the Paeroa-Tahuna road. If this is continued, the Thames Borough Council, which has a large endowment there, could be brought in. The position is to be referred to the Lands Department. Prior to leaving the Waitoa School, where she has been assistant for nearly three years, Miss Betty Sharpe was presented by the headmaster, Mr. McCowan, on behalf of the parents and children, with a. handsome floating bowl. The Te Aroha Borough Council proposes to take a further step regarding the proposal to erect a town hall .and municipal offices, and at a meeting on January 8 will consider the motion to apply to the Government Loans Board for its sanction to the borrowing of £15,500 for the building and equipment.
