NEW REGENT
“WHY BRING THAT UP?” The inimitable gramophone recording artists, the “Two Black Crows,” played by Moran and Mack, have the principal roles in “Why Bring That Up?” the delightful all-talking production which repeated its big success at the New Regent Theatre again on Saturday. In the picture the two comedians appear as they really are, two likeable fellows who don charcoal and the disguise of knockabout comedians only when they are performing, in the course of the story, two of their bestknown acts, “The Early Bird Catches the Worm” and “The Two Black Crows as Convicts.” Supporting the principals are Evelyn Brent and Harry Green, and each gives a convincing portrayal. The chief item on the interesting supporting programme is the singing of Jack Lumsdaine, “the Whispering Baritone,” who makes a personal appearance. He is well known to Auckland wireless enthusiasts because of his singing from Australian stations. In addition there are several interesting talkie featurettes. At the matinees there is presented a gorgeous Christmas pantomime, “A Kiddies’ Cabaret,” by 30 clever children under the direction of Miss Beryl Nettleton. ft Maurice Chevalier has just completed his “bit” in the big multi-star revue, “Paramount on Parade,” which is now being filmed at the Hollywood studios. Other Paramount stars will play in the mammoth production between current productions.
