AVIATION IN BRITAIN
GREAT ADVANCE REVIEWED . BY DIRECTOR
British Official Wireless RUGBY, Tuesday. Sir Sefton Brancker, Director of Civil Aviation, when visiting Shrewsbury yesterday, said that private flying in Britain was increasing every day. This year his department was issuing pilots’ licences and certificates for aircraft at double the rate of issue of 1928. He anticipated that they would double the rate again in 1930. Every day they were moving toward making air transport pay its way, and as this materialised it was obvious that the demand for commercial aircraft would increase to very large proportions.
