FEAR OF HUSBAND
WIFE SEEKS ORDER FOR SEPARATION
ATTACK WITH RAZOR Having spent two days in gaol, Alfred John Sheay was convicted and discharged on a charge of drunkenness at the Police Court this morning. Of Sheay, it was alleged by Mr. Singer that he had attempted to throttle his wife and attacked her with a razor. Mr. Singer told the court on Tuesday that he was applying for a separation order, and asked that accused be remanded in custody as the wife was terrified of him. This morning Mr. Sullivan asked that the application for a separation order be taken at 2.15 this afternoon, it would not keep the court longer than a few minutes, and Mr. Singer was unable to be down in the morning. “It means that the police will have to waste an afternoon,” commented Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M. Sub-Inspector McCarthy: I am concerned only with the drunkenness charge. The Magistrate: Well, he’s been locked up for two or three days. He's convicted and discharged. I shall hear the application for an order at 2.30.
