COMMITTEE INQUIRIES APPROVED

WAITEMATA BOARD’S MOVE With a comprehensive scheme of electric supply in view, the Waitcmata Electric- Power Board is gaining the reports of special committees on the power loads and the probable development of defined areas of its district. A decision in this direction w;is made at a meeting this morning on the motion of Mr. J. W. Hayden, chairman of the board. On the vote of the 1 board, the committees, assisted by the i engineer, Mr. F. J. H. Wilson, will investigate for report to the board before March 30, 1930, the end of the financial year. “The works in view are important.” Mr. Hayden said. “The question is one of the potential load on the different j areas at the main points of issue.” In reply to Mr. S. E. Hennings, the chairman said the idea behind the proposals was the proper and even distribution of supply over the board's area. Mr. Hennings agreed that the plan would tend toward the provision of a really comprehensive scheme. Messrs. G. Trevithick, Hennings, A. E. Greenslade, M. E. Thompson and [ the engineer are to report on these j points:^— (1) The advisability of connecting j the board’s mains between the circuits j of the east and the west coasts: (2) The annual saving in power costs by supplying a part of the west coast districts from the Takapuna substation. or vice versa; (3) The probable load and the potential development on the following routes: Albany, Dairy Flat ayd Wainui: Deep, Creek, Silyerdale and jWainui; Albany, Riverhead, apd Kumeu: (4) The capital cost involved. The second committee, consisting of Messrs. J. Mackie. W. R. T. Leighton. A. Robertson and the engineer, will re- j port on these points: (1) The extension of the. board’s • lines from Silverdale to Waiwera and j beyond: (2) The probable load and the development in the district: (3) The advisability of extending the supply* northward: (4) The extent of the inquiry which would be required from Whangaparaoa. Orewa, Waiwera and Puli ok the northernmost point of the board's east coast district. The investigations were unanimously approved by the board.
