ELLERSLIE TRAINING

QUIET MORNING’S WORK TETRARCHATE BEST Most Whangarei candidates were out working at Ellerslie prior to the breakfast interval this morning, and although plenty of gallops—if the term can be applied to three-quarter pace —were witnessed, there was nothing unusual during the. proceedings. In addition to number three grass, the course proper also came in for use, but not to such an extent as the former track. The pegs were out 50ft on the course proper and the going splendid. Number Three Grass Bombarder and Palmares were separately sprinted three furlongs, Vallar covering the same ground in 39. For a furlong further Tambourine was a shade in front of Neil in 54 1-5. Clarus moved smoothly over six furlongs, the last five in 1.7 4-5. Respirator and Cynthia N. were, each allotted three-quarter pace, the latter covering a circuit. Seven furlongs was the task apportioned Corinax, and he hit out nicely in returning 1.35 1-5, the last six in 1.20. Praetor ran over six fuiTongs in 1.20 2-5, and for five furlongs Eager Rose recorded 1.5. Tetrarchate reeled off the last halfmile of five furlongs in 50—creditable time. Nothing has worked better in the past week and he must command respect in his Whangarei engagements. Alloy left six furlongs behind in 1.24 4-5, and for the last four of five furlongs Wild Country registered 56. Diamond Queen dashed over three furlongs in 38 3-5. She is a speedv sort, but lacks stamina. 'Hyde Park encompassed a round in easy style. He has no immediate engagements, and his work generally takes the form of three-quarter pace, exercise that is proving of oenefit if his bright appearance is a criterion. Taneriri strode evenly over five furlongs in 1.6 4-5, and was under restraint. Course Proper British Princess and Silene were partnered over three furlongs in 40, and appeared as if they had a little in reserve. Hampton Park sprinted three furlongs in 40 4-5, and did it comfortably. He has a smart turn of speed, and may prove a useful proposition for his new owner. Master Doon and Ivamehameha were associated in a sprint from the halfmile peg, but the former broke a wav lengths ahead of Mon Star and finished up in 54 1-5. Mon Star decreased the gap a little, returning 53 z-o.
