SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION AT EAST TAMAKI EQUESTRIAN EVENTS The large gathering af spectators which attended the annual gymkhana, held on the East Tamaki Sports Ground on Saturday afternoon, was rewarded with one of the most spectacular displays of equestrian events by school children yet seen in cr around Auckland. The able manner in which some of the young riders manage their mounts proved conclusively that the rising generation is not devoid of horse sense. The duties of judges were ably carried out by Messrs. H. Bishop, 11. Bul-lock-Webster and J. Adams, who remarked on the splendid exhibitions of the young riders. The function was organised by Mrs. P. it. Smith, and the proceeds are to

be devoted to the funds of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Mr. P. H. Smith acted ts clerk of the course, and a programme of musical items was rendered by tho Auckland Mounted Rifles Band.
