“WOMEN THEY TALK ABOUT” “Women They Talk About,” the part talkie at the Tivoli Theatre, is cleancut, swift-moving drama deftly touching the matter of woman in politics. Irene Rich as the aristocratic woman ivho runs for Mayor t.o get even for Insults offered her father by the presiding Mayor, gives a delightful performance, which blends the cliarm of femininity with the cleverness of the politician and the tenderness of the mother. Audrey Ferris is cast as the daughter of the lady candidate, in love with the Mayor’s husky truck-driving son, played by William Collier, jun. This new juvenile team is especially pleasing. Complications come when confederates of the Mayor kidnap Audrey, trying to compromise her, in order to injure her mother’s chance of election. Collier learns of the girl’s whereabouts and with the excited mother goes to I find her. After the girl is rescued and taken home, the two hurry to the office of the Mayor, where the henchman is recounting his cleverness in the abduction. In the fight which follows between Collier and the thug—the latter’s gun explodes—wounding the Mayor—and then — But this is a mere skeleton of part of a picture that is thrilling and filled with suspense. "Women They Talk About” is alive and stirring. The Tivoli programme also includes some delightful short talkie features.
