AUCKLAND CITY CLUB The Auckland City Defence Rifle Club fired the first shoot of the season at 800 and 900 yards on Saturday afternoon. AKARANA CLUB The final shoot of the first trophy scries of the Akarana Rifle Club Was completed over the ranges of 800 and 900 yards at the Penrose range on Saturday for trophies presented by Mr. F. Ivearsley and Sir F. Lang. The wind caused the marksmen considerable trouble, but some good shooting was recorded. Silver spoons were won by D. Calder and F. Ellet. Trophy points were awarded to the three top men in each section. The following won trophy points during the series:—D. Calder, 11; J. R. Draffin, 5; F. Atkinson, 4: A. E. Hughes. 2; G. Ashley, 1; A. G. Devore, 1. Details of the shooting are as follow: — A Section (Mr. F. Kearsley’s Trophy).—D. Calder, 47 at 800yds. 47 at 900yds, total 94; J. F. Attwood, 49, 40—89; A. G. Devore, 42, 44—86: A. H. Dixon, 46, 39 —85; C. Ashley, 47, 38 — 85: J. R. Draffin, 35, 47—82; G. G. Ashley, 41, 37 —78; A. E. Hughes, 40, 35—75. B Section (Sir F. Lang’s Trophy).— F. Ellett, 43, 43 (5) —91 : R. J. Parry, 48. 32 (10) —90; A. M. Richardson, 40, 44 (5) —89; A. G. Smith, 42, 31 (5) —88; H. Snell. 39. 42 (6) —87; A. Walker, 35, 33 (5) —73. Don Calder is the winner of Mr. F. Kearsley’s tpophy, and H. Snell Sir F. Lang’s trophy. The club will shoot over the ranges of 500 and 600yds. on Saturday next.
