WIDE WICKET FAVOURED
ENGLISH COUNTY CRICKET RULES REPLIES TO QUESTIONNAIRE (United P.A. —By Telegraph — Copyright) LONDON, Saturday. The replies of county cricketers and umpires to a questionnaire sent out by a special sub-committee of the Marylebone Cricket Club show a majority in favour of the confirmation of the use of the wider wicket. The sub-committee, in its report, says it would be a mistake to revert to the old size of wicket. It urges the Marylebone Club to try the experiment with the minor counties and other, clubs, to assist it in making a decision. Eighteen out of 22 umpires favoured a continuance of the experiment of the rule that if the batsman first snicked the ball he was out leg before wicket.
