Sir George Elliot left for Wellington by the Limited last evening. Mr. R. A. I>onald arrived, from Wellington by the Limited this morning. Mr. R. G. Rainger has returned to Auckland after spending a golfing holiday in Australia. Canon C. If. Grant Cowen lef. Auckland by train last evening on a short visit to Wanganui. Mr. F. J- Xathan was an arrival in Auckland this morning by the Limited from Wellington. Messrs. C. A. Watts and R. P. Towle were among the passengers from Wellington on the Limited this morning Mr. J. G. L. Hewitt. SS.M., chairman of the Railway Appeal Board, reached Auckland this morning by the Limited. Mr. H. P- Richmond, who underwent an operation in a private hospital yesterday, is reported to be progressing satisfactorily. Mr. "Dynes Fulton, of Tuakau. has been re-elected chairman of directors ~c the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, Ltd. Dr. E. Marsden. secretary of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, arrived from Wellington by the Limited this morning. The Hon. G. J. Garland and the Hon. W. Stewart, members of the Legislative Council, returned to Auckland this morning from Wellington. Mr. Leonard Paynter, senior orchard instructor in Canterbury for the Agri- < u.ture Department, has Ueen appointed to succeed Mr. W. H. Rice at Auckland. Mr. Rice recently relinquished his position as orchard instructor at Auckland to take up a city business appointment. Mr. F. H. S. Ibbotson, chief clerk of the Public Works Department at Tauranga for the past 10 years, has been promoted and has left for Dunedin. He will be succeeded by Mr. J. D.
