SCHOOL BIBLE CLASSES

ONEHUNGA APPROVES SCHEME At a recent meeting of the Onehunga School Committee it was decided to introduce the Nelson system of Bible reading in the school provided the majority of the parents were agreeable, an d voting papers were accordingly circulated. These were o pened at the school committee meeting held last evening, when the following result was announced: —For the proposal, 247; against, 75; informal, 15. In all, 412 voting papers were issued and 337 returned, showing that 75 did not vote. The committee will now place the result before the Education Board and r*sk permission to carry out the wishes of the parents. When this is granted each of the Onehunga ministers of religion will take a class of pupils for half an hour in each week. One voting paper was issued to each family attending the school, and only one parent was permitted to vote.
