PLUNGE OVER PRECIPICE
MOTORISTS’ MIRACULOUS ESCAPE 100 FEET DROP IN CAR (From Our Oicn Correspondent) HAMILTON, Wednesday. To plunge 100 ft over a precipice in a motor-car and escape with minor injuries was the sensational experience of three motorists on Monday. Mr. L. Woolliams. of Rotorua, accompanied by his wife and daughter, was driving on the Mamaku Hill about 12 miles from Tirau, when the car went over a 100 ft precipice. Turning several times in its fall, the car came to rest among some trees. Further on was a further drop of 60ft, and a steep bank several hundred feet high. The passengers were rescued by Public Works employees, who were working nearby. Mrs Woolliams received a severe cut cn the face and cuts on the hand, and the others escaped with bruises and shock. The car was extensively damaged.
