HIGH PRICED JERSEYS
IMPORTATIONS ARRIVE VALUABLE CONSIGNMENT Included in the cargo of the s.». Pipiriki, which arrived from New York yesterday, is a valuable j consignment of stud Jerseys, eight in number, which will go to help improve the standard of New Zea- ! land dairy herds. The consignment is made up of four j bulls, and four cows, and certainly makes a fine showing, despite the buffeting the cattle received on the voyage. Xo lover of the Jersey breed should let the opportunity pass without making an inspection. The total value of the cattle runs into several thousand dollars, one bull alone costing over 5,000 dollars. The cattle, which came out to the order of Messrs. Wright. Stephenson and Company, come from the Pennslyva.nian firm which shipped the highpriced Jersey bull to the order of Mr. A. E. Watkins, of Takanini, last year; the arrival of the animal, which cost in the vicinity of 10,000 dollars, caused considerable talk at the time. Some of the animals were born in the island of Jersey! and all have records backed up by high production.
