FAMOUS SURGEON HERE

DISTINGUISHED AORANGI PASSENGERS BOUND FOR HONOLULU One of Australia's most famous surgeons, Dr. N. D. Royle, of Sydney, is a through passenger on the Aorangi, on his way to attend the Surgical Conference at Honolulu. Dr. Hoyle's new and daring operative methods have created a sensation in surgical circles. He is taking some motion picture films showing his methods of operating to Honolulu, and they will be exhibited at the conference there. Another medical man on the Aorangi stated that Dr. Royle has discovered a new method of cutting the sympathetic nerves and removing rigidity of the muscles in certain nervous disorders. His methods have excited interest throughout the world. Dr. lioyle will expound his theories and show his films to those attending the conference. There are several Australian surgeons on the Aorangi and several New Zealanders will join them at Auckland to represent the Dominion. Professor W. A. Osborne, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the Melbourne University, stated that there will be representatives from all the Pacific countries at the conference. Honolulu was endeavouring to become the clearing-house for all questions—intellectual and social—relating to the Pacific. AN EXCELLENT MOVE Professor Osborne said that the biggest thing in the surgical world in Australia was the recent establishment of the Australian College of Surgeons. This had features which the English Fellowship did not 'possess, such as experience and surgical achievement. It also had a very strict ethical aspect. Professor Osborne remarked that it was a big move and an excellent one. He believed that this would be the first occasion on which the Australasian College of Surgeons would be represented at any gathering. Dr. Ralph Worrall, of Sydney, another of Australia’s distinguished surgeons, is also on the Aorangi bound for Honolulu. Other surgeons who are on their way to attend the conference are Dr. R. Francis, Dr. R. J. Furber, Dr. S. H. Harris, Dr. H. W. T. Cheuall, all of Sydney; and R. H. Pulleine, of Adelaide.
