RHODES SCHOLAR HONOURED

CATHOLIC GUILD SOCIAL Leaving for Oxford next week, Mr. Ernest E. Bailey, Auckland's 1928 Rhodes Scholar, was the guest of honour at a social evening held by the Catholic Students' Guild last evening in St. Patrick’s social hall. Dr. L. E. Buxton president of the expressed the pleasure of the members at Mr. Bailey’s success. The Rev. Brother Borgia, of Sacred Heart College, also congratulated Mr. Bailey, who is an old boy of the college. Mr. J. P. Kalaugher, father of Mr. W. G. ICalaugher, also a Rhodes scholar, made a short congratulatory speech. On behalf of the guild Brother Borgia presented Mr. Bailey with a camera. In reply Mr. Bailey made reference to the benefits he had derived from membership of the guild.
