CHILDREN’S TEETH
DENTAL CLINICS FOR ALL SCHOOLS MR. STALLWORTHY’S BELIEF (THE SUN’S Parliamentary Reporter) PARLIAMENT BLDGS., Friday. The opinion that all schools in the country would be provided with dental clinics in six or eight years was expressed in the House of Representatives this afternoon by the Minister of Health, the Hon. A. J. Stallworthy. Members asked him would extensions of the system be accelerated. Mr. H. S. S. Kyle (Riccarton) wanted to know if that applied to private schools. Mr. Stallworthy said that at the present rate of development the service would be given to the whole of the school children up to standard IV. He said that if the dental service were given to all schools immediately the whole of the dental profession in New Zealand would be required. That was on the advice of responsible officers of the service. It was not. a question of lack of heart, Interest or lack of Intelligent application to development work of the fine service, but one of economics and finance. The utmost speed would he given to the development of the service.
