GREAT MOTOR MERGER
LARGE BRITISH COMPANIES TO COMBINE CAR PLANNED FOR OVERSEAS (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) LONDON, Friday. The largest merger as yet entered upon in the British motor industry is in process of formation, says the “Daily Chroricle.” It will involve five large companies and two accessory firms. The prime objects are to fight foreign competition and to build by a special combined effort a car for sale in the overseas markets. This will probably conform closely to modern American practice, at a competitive price. It is expected that the merger will obtain advantages by multiple purchase of raw materials and by having common sales depots. It is probable that several of the existing British car models will be scrapped to eliminate competition between them.
