TENDER ASTRAY
COMPLAINT TO COUNCIL COMMITTEE DISCUSSION Not satisfied that his tender for a council contract had not reached the Town Hall in time for consideration with others. Mr. George Cole protested against the return of the tender unopened. He stated he posted it by registered letter on the morning previous to the afternoon on which the tenders closed, and that the town clerk's office should have reecived it in time. Mr. Cole having incurred expense in connection with his tender, asked that it should now receive consideration. Cr. F. N. Bartram, stressing the need for particulars, said that the delivery of mails was a public question. In reply to Cr. E. J. Phelan, who wanted to know, without referring to a committee, the results of inquiries from the postmaster at Wellesley Street and from the Town Hall messenger, the town clerk suggested that the question be left to the Finance Committee. This was done.
