NURSE DISMISSED
CLAIM FOR DAMAGES FAILS Press Association WELLINGTON, Tuesday. A nurse’s dismissal from the service of Lady Edwards was the subject of a written judgment by Mr. E. Pa~e S.M., today. Ethel Sophia Nicholas claimed £147 14s damages for alleged wrongful dismissal, and £1 4s, the balance of wages said to be due. Plaintiff accompanied Lady Edwards from England and continued in her employ here, during which time, at her own instigation, so Mr. Page heldi the terms of her employment were altered with an increase of wages to £ 3 2s either side to give a week’s notice "of the termination of the engagement. It was understood that, as plaintiff’s husband was coming to settle in New Zealand, there should be no demand for a return fare to England. Differences afterwards arose between the parties, ending In an action for wrongful dismissal. Judgment was given for defendant.
