HOCKEY COMPETITION
CRITICAL STAGE REACHED 1 BIG ISSUES TOMORROW Two particularly interesting hockey j matches should be seen at Remuera tomorrow, when the second round of ; the senior grade club championship 1 competition will begin. Mount Eden will cross sticks with Somerville on No. 1 ground at 3.5 and on the issue of this match may, depend the final result of the competition. At present Mount Eden stands at the ln*ad of the competition, one point ahead of Somerville, North Shore and St. Luke’s, which three are bracketed equal. the first round Somerville defeated Eden by four goals to nil, but it is improbable such a thrashing will bo repeated. Mount Eden has of j late been showing great improvement ' and will be a dangerous bidder for championship honours. Another game of more than ordinary promise is the fixture between North Shore and St. Luke’s on No. 1 at 1.50. Both teams stand equal and both are well in the running for the championship. The men from across the harbour played magnificently last Saturday and defeated Somerville, hence the Shore team is looked to to j give a particularly good account of it- j self tomorrow'. The third senior meeting will bo staged between University and Epiphany. The latter team has not yet won a game and on the sea- | son’s showing is not likely to.
