THREATS OF EXPOSURE
LETTER-WRITER GIVEN Ai CHANCE “CASE OUT OF ORDINARY” “This case is out of the ordinary,” remarked Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., when Claude Edgar Young appeared before him at the Police Court this morning for sentence on a charge of attempted theft. Youxig was convicted yesterday after the police had told the story of how he had endeavoured to extort money by writing disturbing letters under, a false name, threatening to expose doings of his former employer. “I have a report from the probation officer,” continued the magistrate, “and I think Young just wants putting under restraint. It is no use fining him. as he could pay nothing.” Young was admitted to probation for 12 months. '
