ELECTION OF OFFICERS There was a large attendance of members at the annual meeting ut: the Tauranga A. and P. Association. The president, Mr. F. W. Kearn, presided. In his annual report the president congratulated members upon the success which had attended their first two-day show. The membership roll showed an increase, finances were sound and the association was in an excellent position. The balance-sheet was read, showing a cash credit balance of £ll7 17s 6d, and assets over liabilities £859 7s 6d. Mr. C. E. Macmillan, M.P., then presented the winners with cups won by them. Mr. J. Darragh was made a lifemember in recognition of his long services to the association, he being a pioneer member. The election of officers resulted: Patron, Mr. C. E. Macmillan, M.P.; president, Mr. J. K. Hamilton; vicepresidents, Messrs. H. J. Lever, T. Kearn and A. R. Wood; secret.££y, Mr. L. Blomciuest; treasurer, Mr. J. Neal. The retiring general committee and executive were re-elected. Itxwas decided to draw the Government’s attention to the large tracts of good farming land lying idle in the district and to ask for an officer from the Lands Department to investigate, with the view to getting it opened up and settled. The Railway Department is to be asked that when arranging for farmers’ excursions from the South Island that it should include the Bay of Plenty in its itinerary; also that the party of English and Canadian farmeas who will be touring the Dominion in the new year be taken through this district. The president stated that Mr. N. T. London, who had been a most active and valued member of the association, was leaving the district, and on behalf of the. members presented him with a gold pin. / Mr. H. J. Lever, president of the Jersey Club, also presented Mr. London with a gold medal in recognition of services rendered to the club. Mr. London suitably replied.
