BUSY WEEK ON THE WATERFRONT.—After an unusually quiet period Auckland wharves have been transformed from a parade-ground for seagulls into a scene of bustling commercial activity. The many cargoes which are being unloaded from overseas include (right) 8,300 tons of sulphur brought by the Baron Maclay from Galveston, Texas; (centre), bales of sugar and cement bags from Calcutta, from the holds of the Sussex; and (left) steel rails from England unloaded from the steamer Kent.
