WHANGAREI WHISPERS
PROMISING PACERS (Special to THE SUN) WHAXGAREI, Saturday. Although there are not many light-harness aspirants trained locally, the sport is very popular in this locality, and the Northland Club is doing everything possible to popularise the sport. The success of the Labour Day fixture has given the club a good deal, and providing it is not “pushed out” next year by the Auckland Club in its desire to get the holiday, the local body should make further progress. C. Schon has a promising: yearling colt by The Triumph from lola. The dam. a good performer he.rself, gave the turf two good ones in»Tamerisk and Avenue. The son of The Triumph will be nominated for the 1930 Derby, and if appearances count for anything he should be more than useful. Showing Promise Trainer A. Quaife has Moko Swift in great order, and the son of Peter Moko will be restricted to light work until the Xorthland Trotting Club’s spring fixture comes round, when he is expected to be in readiness to tackle his engagements. Moko Fly, who successfully contested the Leamington Handicap at Cambridge, when he made the opposition look fairly cheap, is doing steady work on the local track. Although looking a picture, if present intentions are adhered to he will not start again until the Whangarei meeting, which in all probability will be held in October. [lf Moko Fly goes to Hastings, he should not return empty-handed.— "Abaydos." J TROTTING FIXTURES Hawke's Bay T.C.—June 1-3. Canterbury Park T.C.—June 1-3. Ashburton T.C.—June 8 Auckland T.C.—June 22-24.
