BREAKING-UP LARGE ESTATES FOUR MORE AREAS BOUGHT Press Association WELLINGTON. Today. The Minister of Lunds, the Hon. G. W. Forbes, announces that the follow - ing purchases of land have just been completed: (D Rosebery Estate, Oaniaru. owned by Gilchrist Bros., comprising 2,100 acres of high-class land suitable for dairying or mixed farming. It is anticipated the area will provide seven or eight gofcd farms of area* ranging from 230 to 350 acres. (2) Another portion of the same estate, owned by the Misses Gilchrist, comprising 1,900 acres. This should, provide six good farms. (3) Brooksdale Homestead block, near Tapanui, Otago, owned by Mr, George Stuart, comprising 1,940 acres, suitable for mixed farming or dairying. The property should divide into seven or eight good farms. (4) Portion of the Scotson Estate, near St. Andrew’s, owned by Mr. W. E. Mills. It consists of 488 acres, the purchase of which has been arranged under the Group Settlement legislation of 1928. There are two farms or 228 and 260 acres respectively. The land is of excellent! guality. Applicants have already been approved as suitable settlers.
