SAILING CLUB MEN RECEIVE TROPHIES AT ANNUAL DANCE OTAHUHU FUNCTION Sailors—of the amateur variety—and their wives, attended in full force when the Otahuhu Sailing Club held its annual social and prize night in St. Andrew’s Hall, Otahuhu, on Alonday evening. An enjoyable programme of dance music was supplied by the Vagabonds’ Dance Band, and a number of extras were played by Aliss Alarjorie Seel and Airs. Walker. A progressive euchre tournament was the centre of much interest. Airs. Harris won the women’s section, with Airs. AlcLaren second. The. men’s section was won by Air. H. Campbell, and Mr. West second. The supper arrangements were in the care of Air. E. Castle, assisted by Alesdames Parkinson. Petrie, Aloelier, Morgan, Aliss Petrie, Alessrs. C. Johnston, Aloeller and Parkinson. Air. C. Constance fulfilled the duties of master of ceremonies. Before presenting the prizes, Air. T. Clements, Alayor of Otahuhu, congratulated the club on the strong position it was now in, and also on the splendid course available for the holding of its races. Mr. W. A. Wilkinson, commodore of the Tamaki Sailing Club, also spoke. The successful competitors for the club trophies were: First outboard motor race, All*. J, S. i Dickson (Miss Tamaki), 1; Air. L. Palmer i (Aliss Akaranjj,), 2. Second outboard j motor race: Mr. L. Palmer (Aliss Akarana), 1; Air. J. Ryley (Chancit), 2. Third outboard motor race: Air. S. Ford (UDevil), 1; Mr. A. R. Townsend (Aliss Arawa), 2. Y r acht race: Air. J. Alorgan (Caprice), 1: Air. A. Walker (Phyllis H.), 2: Mr. R. E. Fenton (Tui), 3. Mens swimming race, 100 yards: Mr. C. Hieatt, 1;. Air. W. llieatt, 2. Women's swimming race: Aliss Adams, 1; Aliss Townsend, 2. Canoe race: Air. G. Wilson (Scout), 1; Air. S. Walker (Spirit), 2. Schoolboys’ swimming race, 50 yards: A. Patrick, 1; A. Cartier, 2. For gaining most points in the three yacht races held during the season: Air. J. Alorgan’s Caprice.
