DICKENS FELLOWSHIP

FORTNIGHTLY PROGRAMME A programme drawn from “Pickwick Papers” was presented at the fortnightly meeting of the Auckland Dickens Fellowship, which was hejd last evening. The programme was arranged by Mr. T. Clarkson. Readings were given as follow: Mr. Pickwicks speeches, the president, Rev. A. Chappell; ‘‘Pickwick in the Mr. C. Hudson; “Pickwick on the I ce * Miss Statham; and “Sam Wellers Valentine,” Mrs. Henneth Gordon. The remainder of the programme consisted of readings from the trial of the breach of promise case, Bardell v * Pickwick, those taking part being: The Judge, Mr. C. Kidson; Sergeant Buzfuz, Mr. J. E. Green; Mr. Skim' pin, Mr. T. Clarkson: Mr. Winkle. MJG. G. Grant; Sam Weller, Mr. W. Lusty; Mr. Phunky, Air. W. D. Lusti* Tony Weller, Mr. J. J. Sullivan. The next meeting will be devoted to a symposium of favourite characters.
