GAMING AMENDMENTS
MINISTER WILL SUPPORT BILL TELEGRAPHING BETS Press Association WELLINGTON, Wednesday. If a Gaming Amendment Bill is to be introduced next session it is hardly likely it will be a Government measure. The Hon. P. A. de la Perrelle, Minister of Internal Affairs, stated today that if any private members issued a Bill relating to the proposed amendments of the Gaming Act, it would have his hearty and cordial support. He believed that the telegraphing of bets to the course was a legitimate means by which people from afar could have the opportunity of investment. He also considered that the newspapers sliou/d have the right to publish dividends. That right should never have been denied them. Dividends were known all over the countryside soon after a race was run, and in any case, newspapers came in from Australia with the amount of the dividends stated in them and no one made any objection.
