FRANKLIN’S ONE DAY WAIPA INTERESTED (Special to THE SUXJ TE AWAMUTU, Saturday. Among the matters claiming the attention of members of the Waipa Racing Club at Friday’s meeting was the club’s endeavours to get a second totalisator permit, and the failure of the effort for this coming season. It v/as decided to continue the representations in the hope that a permit will be available for the 1930 season. If so, the club desires a permit to hold a steeplechase meeting on May 24. 1930. Mention was made of the Conference and Minister approving a totalisator meeting at Pukekohe, under the aegis of the Franklin Club, which has already held one meeting this season. Mr. W. J. Broadfoot stated that he had received a letter from the Minister of Internal Affairs to the effect that the two floating one-dav lotalisator permits had been allotted for the current year to Waverley and Whangarei Clubs respectively. Since then the J ranklin Club had evidentlv obtained permission to race on Mav 11. It was decided to bring the matter under Mr. Broadfoot’s notice, and ask tor information concerning the granting to Franklin of a permit in view of the informtaion conveved bv him to the club.
