FARMERS FINED FOR NEGLECT ( ape via l to TH E a L N ) TE AWAMUTU, To-day. A number of farmers from the Te Awamutu district were charged in the Te Awamutu Magistrate’s Court on Saturday with failing to clear their land of noxious weeds. The magistrate. Mr. Wyvern Wilson. S.M., said the notices to clear must be complied with; it was no use waiting for the ragwort to get into bloom. James Ham, of Paterangi, for failing to clear blackberries, was ordered to pay costs. An absentee landholder. Charles Haddock, was fined £2 and costs for failure to clear; ragwort and blackberry. Bryan Bros., of Arohena, were fined 10s and costs for exposing lice-infected sheep for sale. Andrew Rennie, of Hairini, was lined £1 and costs for a similar offence. John Punch, Pirongia, Lor failing to clear ragwort, was lined £1 and 10s costs. B. W. Turner, who had abandoned his farm, was fined £1 and £l2 costs; H. Weal, Te. Rehu, £2 and 12s costs; J. W. Benseman, Ngahape, 10s and costs 12s; Walter Hope. Hairini, 10s and costs 12s; Charles Whitton, Pirongia. £1 and costs 12s; John Hall. £1 and costs 12s; Maddern Bros.. Te Awamutu, £1 and costs 10s; J. Dwyer, lOs and costs 12s: and Peter Baa-ton. Ngahape, £1 and 12s costs, all for failing to destroy ragwort or blackberry.
