RIALTO, AND REGENT, EPSOM
“LAUGH, CLOWN, LAUGH” Lon Chaney turns comedian for the first time in his career during an interesting episode in his latest starring production, “Laugh. Clown, Laugh, now at the Rialto and Regent (Hpsum) Theatres. As the tragic clown made famous on the stage by Lionel Barrymore, he does a complete comedy vaudeville act, which is contrasted in later scenes with the poignant tragedy of his sacrifice for the woman he loves. It is a vivid romance of life "behind the scenes in a theatre, with Loretta loung starring opposite Lon Chaney. The second big atrtaction is “Speedy,” Harold Lloyd's latest comedy, an uproarious tale of modern New York. “SCARLET SEAS” AT BRITANNIA “Scarlet Seas,” a colourful and exciting story of a roving sailor, a shipwreok and a girl from a South Seas dance-hall, starring Richard Bat holiness. is now at the Britannia Theatre. The second big picture is “Naughty Baby,’ a jazzy comedy-drama starring Alio*- "White, \vho lives up to her reputation as the new “It” girl, and smiling Jack Mulhall. The picture tells of a hat checker in a big sJew York hotel, who sets out in a borrowed dress and in a borrowed motor-car to “land” a millionaire. How she does it provides plenty of comedy and sustains one's interest until the end. Barry Norton, a well-known featured player, has a leading role in the Emil Jannings starring picture for Paramount titled “Sins of the Fathers.” Other well-known players in the cast ..re Jack Luden, Jean Arthur and lluili Chatter ton.
