DEATH OF DIPLOMAT. —The death lias occurred of Sir Henry BaxIrunside, aged G 9. He was British Minister at Sofia at the outbreak of the war.—British Official Wireless. FELL FROM CLIFF TOP-—The accidental death is reported of Majorgeneral Sir William Birkbeck, who was director of remounts at army headquarters, 1912-20. He was killed at St Briac, near Dinard. France. Sir William lost his footing on top of a cliff, and fell a distance of more than 100 feet to the rocks below'. —British Official Wireless. UIR VACATIONS. Since Sir Samuel Hoare was appointed Secretary of State for Air, he has devoted most of his Parliamentary vacations to flying trips. In the life of the present Parliament he has flown about 50,000 miles without mishap.—British Official Wireless. FATHER ACQUITTED. Joseph Lever, who was charged with the murder of his son Harold at Dunedoo, New South Wales, on March 4, was yesterday acquitted and discharged. Accused and his two sons were travelling Plumbers. It is alleged that a quarrel occurred in their river camp, and ihe son was shot with a pea-rifle. MINISTRY OF SPORT. —The “Daily Express" says that if Labour is returned to power at the forthcoming General Election, the trades unions "ill immediately press for the creation °( a Ministry of Sport. This would control, among other sports, football, racing, cricket, tennis, and athletics, r ranee already has a Sports Ministry. A. and N.Z.-P.A. FRENCH TENNIS TEAM. —M. Galfcy. secretary in Paris of the International Lawn Tennis Federation, has received an invitation from J. H. Hawkes for a French team to visit Australia.
