TOO MUCH STRESS

HARBOUR BOARD CHAIRMAN DIFFICULTIES AT THAMES (From Our Own Correspondent) THAMES, To-day. “The pressure of years has become so keen that I feel I must be freed from this responsbiility for some time,” said Mr. J. W. Danby, chairman of the Thames Harbour Board, who is retiring from office, at a meeting yesterday. “Afe chairman of this board, and as a layman, I have placed my trust in my advisers, but the worry and stress and strain of it all has become so keen that I feel I must lay it down for a time.” This was in answer to several members, who had stated that, in view of financial difficulties yet to be overcome by the board in the completion of its ports improvement scheme, Mr. Danby should reconsider his decision to retire from office.
