SIR WILLIAM NOSWORTHY HONOURED BANQUET AT ASHBURTON 1 Press Associatioii ASHBURTON, Tuesday. Sir William Nosworthy’s services to the people of the Ashburton County over a period of 20 years, as member of Parliament and Minister of the Crown, were recognised to-night, when he was entertained at a banquet. There was an attendance of about 300, representing the local bodies and the public. The guests included Sir Heaton Rhodes and Mr. F. J. Rolleston, late Minister of Justice. Mr. F. G. Evans, provincial president of the Farmers’ Union, presided, and had with him the Mayor, Mr. R. Galbraith. Apologies for absence were received from the Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Coates, and the Prime Minister. Mr Coates eulogised the work of Sir William Nosworthy as a Minister of the Crown, saying that he never looted for a ean in the fence. 6 p Sir William said that he had no thoughts on the question at present but, if the occasion ever arose, he would unsheathe the sword and again enter the fight. 6 , Y.
