A SLOW VOYAGE
OVER EIGHT WEEKS FROM SOUTH AMERICA BROCKABECK fRRIVES Almost taking the same time as a sailing ship, the steamer Brockabeck, belonging to the Brockabeck Steamship Company, London, arrived at Auckland on Monday from the River Plate, district of South America. The vessel brought a cargo of linseed for discharge at Auckland and Sydney. She left Sante Fe on February 15, and two days later called at Alontevideo for bunkers. Alontevideo was left on February 20, and the vessel arrived at Coronel on March 10, where further bunkers were taken on board. On March 12 the Brockabeck sailed from Coronel, .and instead of coming eastward took the westward route. Throughout the whole voyage moderate weather was experienced. Owing to the long run the vessel was unable to carry enough fresh water for her boilers; consequently, her condensers, which were kept going at full bore, were unable to keep the fresh water supply going, and some salt water -got into the boilers. Through this the vesesl had to stop on March 28 and April 8 for over 30 hours to have her tubes cleaned. "While in Auckland the boilers will be cleaned and scaled before she proceeds to Sydney to complete her discharge.
