CODIMUNITY SUNSHINE CLUB The Luna Park amusement area will be open every evening this week. The entire profits will be handed over to tho Community Sunshine Association’s fund for providing a solarium to give the poor children of the city free mediI cal attention. I In addition to the many permanent i attractions at Luna Park, the Sunj shine Club lias- added a number of at- ! tractions, including various. stalls, I while parties from business houses ! and colleges are giving their assist--1 ance. Several of the Auckland schools will be attending the carnival. “EVANGELINE” TO BE FILMED “Evangeline,” Henry 'Wadsworth Longfellow’s poem, will be filmed by Edwin Carewe as Bolores Bel Rio’s next starring vehicle for United Artists. A 1 Jolson is writing a theme song for the picture. Joseph M. Schenk, president of United Artists, made the announcement in a telegram to a national sales convention of his organisation in Chicago. In the same telegram Mr. Schenck announced that “Lummox,” Fannie Hurst’s novel, will be made into an all-talking film by Herbert i director of “Sorrell and Son,” “Beau Geste” and “Peter Pan.” As Mary Bickfords “Coquette” and Roland West’s “Nightstick.” both in j production. are all-talking films j United Artists now has three sucii 1 productions listed for this season.
