MR. VAILE’S CAMPAIGN

FIRST ADDRESS ON THURSDAY On Thursday evening Mr. H. E. Vaile will take the public platform and open his campaign for the Auckland Mayoralty at 8 p.m. in the Town Hall concert chamber. After his policy speech opportunity will be given for questions relative to municipal affairs. This principal address will be followed by a series of meetings in each suburb when, it is hoped, every elector will take the opportunity to discuss with the candidate the many phases of civic life.

Mr. Vaile’s campaign has been in course of consolidation for the past two weeks, and committees have been formed in each district. Mr. Vaile lias attended each meeting and has made a feature of discussing his policy with his supporters, receiving suggestions and answering questions. Every house in the city has been systematically canvassed, with encouraging results, professions of support coming forward in large numbers. SCHOOL COMMITTEES NOMINATIONS CLOSED ELECTIONS ON MONDAY School committee nomination closed yesterday and elections will take place at the householders meeting's on Monday evening next.
